Carbon offsetting

Let’s keep it simple

Travel carries an environmental cost, so we automatically offset your aircraft emissions.

In fact Jet Republic will be 100% carbon neutral from our very first flight.

For most operators this is a complex process, but with us it’s simple – it involves a small hourly contribution and it’s included in our fees.

We have chosen to partner with ClimateCare, one of Europe’s most experienced providers of carbon offsets, and each of the projects in our pool will be rigorously audited and monitored for quality.

There are currently six projects in the Jet Republic pool.

Cambodia

One project in Cambodia introduces fuel-efficient stoves into thousands of houses across the country, reducing the volume of wood and charcoal used for fuel. This leads to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions created by both charcoal production and the use of charcoal during cooking.

Uganda

More than 95% of Ugandans rely on wood fuel for cooking, but studies by the UN suggest that indoor air pollution from cooking stoves causes almost 1.5 million premature deaths worldwide each year. This project aims to install 20,000 fuel-efficient wood stoves per year into villages and towns across Uganda.

China

A project in Qingdao, China concerns the production of energy from wind turbines. In total there are 15 wind turbines spread across three locations in the area. The electricity generated annually by this project is forecast to reach almost 30 GWh, equivalent to the supply of electricity to more than 7,000 Western households for an entire year.

China

20 wind turbines in the Mulan province of China contribute approximately 25 GWh of electricity each year to the Chinese National Grid, which is dominated by coal-powered power stations. This clean energy offsets an estimated 28,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.

India

Bagasse is the term used for the cane fibre waste products of sugar manufacture. In Uttar Pradesh, India, a high pressure boiler and turbo generator is powered by bagasse and exports renewable electricity to the Indian power grid.

India

The sixth project in the Jet Republic pool concerns the installation of ‘treadle pumps’ into farms in Jharkhand, India. Treadle pumps are human-powered water pumps used for irrigation purposes on farmland, replacing diesel-powered pumps that emit greenhouse gases. Removing the need to purchase expensive fuel improves the diet and quality of life for local people.
